Going Retro

My poor little blog has been neglected far too long! I am trying to get back to my original crafty ways with distress, vintage and altered art techniques.

To begin with I am entering the Sunday Postcard Challenge, which this week is Retro Housewife.

Here is my entry

I have a great collection of vintage magazines so I used these as a background. The lady is from a retro stamp set by Creative Stamping and I had some papercuts with the fridge and window. I photographed the postcard lying on the original magazine for interest.

I hope to have more to share with you soon!

On Your Bike!

Sorry - that sounded a bit rude! But I couldn't think of a better title for this project.

I finally got round to using a stamp by Anna Marie Designs which I bought ages ago. First I stamped the postcard from DoCrafts using Distress Ink. Then I stamped the bicycle using the same ink. To add colour to the flowers I used my Spectrum Noir Pencils - I love these!  The flowers in the basket are created using Flower Soft.  To finish off the vintage look I went around the edges of the card with Distress Ink.

I do hope you like this little project!

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Anything Goes
Crafty Friends Challenge - Something beginning with B

Fun at the Fair

I hope you are enjoying the bank holiday, although here in the South it has been a very wet one. The weather has been a great excuse to stay in and catch the Serif CraftArtist shows on Create and Craft. Today Michelle has been showcasing the Sahlin Studio Kits which have a distinctively vintage feel.

Vintage Carnival Kit

As a member of the Design Team I had great fun using these kits to create cards and scrapbook pages.

Grandma's Dresser Kit

Retro Mod Kit

The Retro Mod kit has the most amazing embroidered flowers, but if you look closely at my card, can you spot the real embroidery?!

Keep Crafting!!

A Day for Mothers

I do hope those who celebrate it had a lovely Mother's Day yesterday. The weather here in the South of England was beautiful, so we had a lovely family meal by the sea. We also took our new pup who was so well behaved!

Anyway I finally got round to making a card for my own Mum which I can now share with you.

Being short of time I turned to my Tilda papercraft stash. It is so pretty I tend to look at rather than use it!! I used a base card and various decoupaged diecuts. The sentiment was made using individual letter stickers. I'm glad to say that Mum was very pleased with it!

I am also going to enter this card into the following challenges:

A Busy Monday!

Last week was a bit of a washout craft wise with my son being at home sick, so I didn't get much time to craft. But I made up for it this morning!

My first post is for Linda's Funkie Junkie's Tag Challenge - week 6 (yes still catching up!!).

I made a jumbo tag and covered it with two styles of Kaisercraft paper. I distressed the papers with Frayed Burlap ink. The trees, numbers and birds were made using my Cricut machine. I stamped christmas words onto the tree and then covered it with Rock Candy stickles. I used a vintage postcard I had in my stash on the top and distressed all the other diecuts with Distress Ink. Finally I made the bows and added a snowflake brad.

Don't forget the prize is a voucher from The Funkie Junkie's store!

I will be back again tomorrow with more makes!!

Grungy Monday - ATC Inspired by Tim

I haven't entered Grungy Monday challenge for a while, but just found the time to squeeze in this one. The challenge is to make an ATC using at least one Tim Holtz product or technique. For mine I embossed a piece of card using the Bingo embossing folder. Then using foam and Distress Ink I tinted the card and the ticket. I added a piece of tissue tape around the bottom before adding the ticket. The heart was a grunge element dipped in Gold UTEE into which I added Bedazzle beads.

Other challenges I am entering with this piece are :

Back in Time

The theme at the Fashionable Stamping blog at the moment is Back in Time. I made this entry using my new Indigo Blu Stamps and Melissa Francis Paper pack. I finished the card with dyed silk ribbon, buttons and some hat pins.

Stamping a Tag

The theme at Fashionable Stamping at the moment is to make a tag. I wanted to create a pretty, vintage style tag so this is what I have come up with. I used a mixture of Papermania, Anna Griffin and a Craft Stamper freebie stamp. I used my mica paints to give all the pieces a metallic sheen and then added glitter glue for sparkle.

Other challenges I am entering :
Make It Monday - Anything Goes

Vintage Robin

This is a card I made using the new Creative Expressions vintage stamps. I stamped the robin with distress ink and coloured it in very lightly with aquamarkers. I added red jewels as holly berries. I edged the card with green ink and topped it all off with gingham ribbon. Its a lovely set of stamps that have been demonstrated on Create and Craft recently.
