Magical Mystery Tour

I am really enjoying art journaling at the moment and decided to be brave and enter an art journaling challenge!

The theme at Art Journal Journey is Magical Mystery Tour.

I decided to choose one of my favourite places - Venice. The background is printed from Serif Daisytrail which was a mixed blessing because as I added water it bled! However it added to the watery feel of the page. I used a rubber stamp I have for the main scene and a script border stamp for the text.

It was also my first go at using Texture Paste which because of the thinness of the paper was a bit of a disaster! I managed to cover it with some white acrylic. The square images are from a Crafty Individuals pad and I edged them with Brass WOW! Embossing Powder.

I hope you get a little inspired by my art journal!

Mixed Media Tag

Back now from the Easter break and ready to craft! I really enjoyed making this tag using different kinds of medium.

I used Distress Crayons and Gelatos to colour the background of the tag before stamping onto it with a text stamp. I dry brushed some of the area with white acrylic paint. The trellis is a die cut.

For the butterflies and flowers I stamped onto watercoloured card coloured again with Distress Crayons and Gelatos. I used WOW!Embossing Powder in Brass to emboss the outlines.

Finally I assembled them all onto the tag and added some glitter (well I am The Sparkly Fairy!)

I hope you like it!

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Make My Monday - Embossing
A Inky Mess - Anything Mixed Media
Crafts and Me - Things With Wings
WOW! Embossing Powder - Anything with Embossing

Going Retro

My poor little blog has been neglected far too long! I am trying to get back to my original crafty ways with distress, vintage and altered art techniques.

To begin with I am entering the Sunday Postcard Challenge, which this week is Retro Housewife.

Here is my entry

I have a great collection of vintage magazines so I used these as a background. The lady is from a retro stamp set by Creative Stamping and I had some papercuts with the fridge and window. I photographed the postcard lying on the original magazine for interest.

I hope to have more to share with you soon!
