Cheers - Happy Father's Day!

So today is Father's Day and I want to say a big thank you to my Dad who is amazingly kind, generous and fantastic Grandpa!  I know for some today is painful for those who's Dad is no longer around but I hope you can think of them with fond memories.

I picked up the recent copy of Papercraft Essentials and made this card for my Dad using the free Apple Blossom gifts.

I used the embossing folder and then distressed it with various colours of Distress Inks. It was a happy accident as I started with black and didn't like it so added colour. I quite like how it turned out!  I stamped the bottles and glasses onto card with an archive ink pad before colouring them with watercolour pencils and diluted Distress Ink.

The sentiment was created with a set of alphabet stamps from my stash.

The card is now sitting in pride of place on my Dad's mantelpiece!

So all it remains for me to say is

E is for Eye

So did we all survive January? Some say its one of the bleakest months. I love Winter so it doesn't really affect me!

When my son was born 11 years ago I got into crafting and one of the first things I started making were ATCs. With it being a quite month on the sales front after Christmas I decided to take part in a swap on Facebook. The group is Junk Journal Junkies and Mindful Art. There are some talented people!

The theme was the letter "E", so I choose EYES.

I used Distress Oxide Ink to colour the cards and then spritzed with water. Each card I put through embossing folders. I used Black Soot to pick out the detail. I found the collage images on the internet and then adhered them and stamped in the clear spaces. I used Ultra Thick Enamel in Gold to add splashes. Finally I found some Tim Holtz acrylic squares which I placed over the eyes to add interest.

I really enjoyed this messy art!

Happy Hauntings

So the witching hour will soon be nigh for those celebrating Halloween on the 31st. I love the day but prefer to think of the traditional origins rather than the commercialised merchandise! We will be carving our pumpkin as usual and enjoying a spooky tea.

This spooky card I made for a Halloween Card Swap at UK Stampers Group on Facebook.

I turned to an old Creative Expressions set of stamps which are still my favourite for the window, ghostly figure, pumpkins and ivy. I stamped these onto a background I made using Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and water.

I used a stencil and Distress ink to add the spooky tree. I stamped and coloured the pumpkins using watercolour pencils before cutting out and adding to the front. The black base card was put through an embossing folder and then I rubbed gold ink over the top to highlight.

I hope you all have a fantastic Halloween and stay safe whatever you are doing.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Adore

I hope you are all ready for the weekend and have some exciting plans. Today I am sharing with you a canvas I made. I loved making the tag inspired by Tim Holtz so much that I decided to make a similar canvas.

Ingredients List :
Canvas
Tim Holtz Vintage Images and Stickers
Embossing Folder - Bingo
Wooden Key
Twine
Acrylic Paint - White
Lace
Crackle Paint
Tissue Paper
Various stamps
Tissue Tape

I created a collage on the canvas with various images from Tim Holtz's pads and papers. The canvas has been edged with tissue tape. I then painted a layer of white acrylic paint over the top to distress them further. The tag was created with a Ranger Embossing Bingo Folder which I sanded back and then rubbed over with gold ink to enhance the embossing. I added the 14 sticker and an altered wooden key to it.  The musical notes and image of the lady were stamped onto tissue paper, adhered with gel medium and then I added some Distress Ink to age them. To complete the canvas I added the little red heart - embossed and painted with crackle paint and the lace.

All is calm, All is White

Its very rare that I use white on white in my projects, but I am pleased with the result. The inspiration started at The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge. I am so hoping that I can finish this challenge, but as the big day gets nearer the days get busier!

I took inspiration from Linda's tag in the form or the three small tags, the snowflakes and flowers.
First I embossed the background with a snowflake embossing folder and my Sizzix machine. Then I applied Perfect Medium and WOW! Embossing Powder  - Hologram Sparkle. The tags were cut with a die and the snowflakes punched from silver mirri card. The letters are Thickers which I have had in my stash for some time! I mounted the tags onto the background with foam pads. The flower embellishment was made from the same embossed card stock and vellum, cut with the Tattered Floral Die. I finished the card off by mounting it onto grey card and then Silver Centura Pearl.  So now its onto stage 8 of the challenge!

I am also entering these challenges:
Crafts Galore  - Christmas
Glitter 'n' Sparkle - Add some Glitter and Sparkle
Crafty Hands - Sparkle and Bling
Simply Create Too - Snow or white only
